Desperate to keep him...

I've finally gotten everything I ever wanted: love, freedom, happiness, and, most importantly, Finn. Our love is everything I expected it to be and more. We've finally found each other, but the world seems determined to tear us apart. We thought my father was the only obstacle between us, but now it's the military. With Finn’s departure looming, we’re squeezing in every moment together before we run out of time.

Trying to make every moment count…

Being Carrie’s bodyguard was one thing. Being her boyfriend is another. Every day she’s mine is a day the sun shines in my life. Yet our time together is running out. Her father will never think a tattooed Marine will be good enough, so I’ll do whatever it takes to be worthy of her love. But the road will take me away from the girl who makes me feel alive--the girl I can't live without.

Time only gets us so far...

Where do I start??  Let's see - I loved Finn.....but Carrie drove my crazy.  I have never been able to relate to a spoiled-brat who allows her parents to control her life.  I constantly hollered at Carrie in my head to grow up!
Finn is Carrie's bodyguard and he screwed up by falling in love with her.  The only obstacle in their happily ever after is that they both know her family will never approve of their relationship.  After all, he is an enlisted US Marine with not much to show for himself, and she is the daughter of a US Senator who could possibly be a presidential candidate.  Everything in Carrie's life has been based on what is best for her father's campaign - she even missed her graduation because she was on the campaign trail with her father.  Carrie and Finn both know that in order to make his family approve of their relationship, it will require Finn to do something drastic.  An opportunity presents itself that offers Finn a chance to get what he officer position in the Marines which will help sway Carrie's family.  The only problem, is this opportunity sends him away from Carrie and directly in harm's way.  This story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.....but nothing too bad.  There was just enough closure to not make me throw my kindle. :)

Play List for Out of Time:

  1. Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus. I loved to play this on the emotional parts of the book, because that song just brings out ALL THE FEELS in me.

  1. Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. I think, again, that this covers the emotional side of the book quite accurately.

  1. Love Story by Taylor Swift. I really think this explanatory, but Finn and Carrie really ARE a love story! I love them so freaking much. LOL

  1. She Will Be Loved by Maroon Five. This one is just because it’s so FINN. He’s that guy that would do all those things and more for the woman he loved. AKA Carrie.

  1. Please Don’t Leave Me by Pink. I think this sums up Finn’s feelings throughout the book. He’s so sure he has to fix everything when Carrie doesn’t think anything is wrong in the first place. Which leads to this last one…

  1. Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess. In the song, Pink is so sure that there is something wrong, and Nate doesn’t think there is at first. Then he starts thinking there is, too, and he’s trying to comfort her at the same time. It’s just like Carrie and Finn.
