Rob turned from the bar and motioned for us to push through to join him. “Jägerbombs!” he yelled over the music. “Doesn’t Jäger have human blood in it?” Elizabeth questioned innocently. The four of us shared an exasperated look as we tried to hold back our laughter. Was she really that naïve? Apparently so. I shook my head in complete and utter disbelief. “What?” she questioned. “I heard someone talk about it once in high school. They said something about it being blood…” Yep, she truly was that innocent. Poor thing had yet to taste the pure deliciousness of Jäger. “Liz,” Emma said calmly with a smile on her face, “do you honestly think that the federal government would allow people to drink human blood in their liquor?” Elizabeth paused for a moment. She bit her lip as she thought. I smiled at her naivety. It was endearing nonetheless. “Well when you say it like that…” she muttered, her face flushing with embarrassment. “It’s just deer blood, Liz,” Rob added, nodding to the shot glasses in his hands. “See, I knew I’d heard something about blood!” She must have felt better about her mistake as she yelled over the club music. She laughed before grabbing her shot glass from the bar. “What else is in it?” “Quit asking questions, Half-Pint, live it up a little bit.” I spoke as I squeezed past her for my glass.

**Disclaimer: This content is unedited and subject to change** Copyright © Jessica Ingro “Fine. Bring me the damn suit,” I grumble begrudgingly. “You’re the best! You know that?” Kara kisses me chastely. Her father is still there after all. Bill laughs once Kara bolts up the stairs. “Laugh now. Next thing you know she’ll make you be my elf!” I threaten good naturedly. “I’d love to see that,” he says in between chuckles. “Ah crap!” I pull my hands through my hair, seriously wanting to throw a child-sized temper tantrum at this turn of events. “Think of it this way, son. It will be good practice for when you have kids. And you’re making those girls’ night.” “Yeah… alright. I guess I can try to look on the bright side of things,” I concede. The last thing I need is for my soon to be father-in-law to think I’m a big baby. Kara returns twenty minutes later with a giant red bag. I drag it into the bathroom and take my time changing. Part of me hopes that if I take too long the girls will fall asleep or something. Stranger things have happened. “It’s Christmas Eve, Jacob. The girls won’t want to fall asleep regardless, so don’t think you can get out of this,” Kara calls through door. How the hell does she do that? It’s worse than the eyes in the back of her head. “I’ll be out in a minute,” I yell through the door. After I velcro the giant pillow onto my belly, I turn to the side and stick my stomach out further, poking at my now enlarged gut. I roll my abdominal muscles making the pillow bounce and ripple. Chuckling at my nonsense, I step into the red, velvet pants. I pull the black suspenders over my shoulder and do a little jig watching as my stomach bounces around. Apparently this suit sucks the seriousness out of you. Maybe it’s a magic suit… I stop my musings and proceed to put the jacket on and button it up. I look damn good in red. Even with a giant stomach. Next comes the wig and beard, followed by the hat. Now I have absolutely no reason to walk out of this bathroom. Damn. Opening the door, Kara is the first thing I see. Her face lights up and she graces me with a wide smile. She lifts her arm, and then she does the unthinkable when she snaps a picture with her cell phone. “Lump of coal for you!” I shout and make like I’m going to attack her. When I lunge for her, she screeches and runs across the room. Once I catch up with her, she reaches out and rubs red shit on my cheeks. “Really?” I ask not wanting to deal with this shit. “You are so going to get lucky later,” she mumbles so only I can hear her. “Damn straight. You owe me one creative session, Sunshine.” “There is this new position I heard about that I’ve been curious to try.” “It’s a good thing this suit is big, otherwise my sister would think Santa was a giant perv. What do you think you’re doing telling me that now?” I gripe, knowing my nieces can’t sit on my lap while I’m turned on. “Sorry. I forget,” she says like that explains it all. “You’re lucky I love you.” I kiss her forehead and start towards the stairs. “Let’s get this over with.”

Book Description:

When all hope for moving on from a life filled with pain was gone, Emily Watson closed herself off to the world, packed her bags, and moved across the country in search of a new life. What she found was a career she adored and friends whom she loved. It wasn't a full and complete life, but it was definitely better than what she knew before.
When all hope for being loved and accepted for who he was instead of what he had was gone, Taylor Carter decided that trusting people outside of his family wasn't really smart and would only lead to disappointment. With his world turned upside down, his life became about his work, and every new relationship was meaningless and superficial. He was safe, and definitely content, but never truly happy. When all hope for staying awake during a long day was gone, Emily and Taylor found themselves at the same coffee cart. Little did they know then that the worst coffee they'd ever drank would forever change their lives.
When hopeless people are blinded by an endless pain. When contentment and safety feels like the best option, and love seems impossible, they may just find an EXCEPTION.

About the Author:
I’m Patty, and words have always been a passion of mine. I’ve always loved to read them, write them and learn them in other languages. Last year, I’ve decided to take that passion and turn it into a book, the result was Exception, my very first novel due this October.
Whenever I’m not sitting behind my computer, I’m either enjoying the company of my dear hubby, Alex, and our four four-legged babies or reading. I’m a firm believer in long hand written letters, love of any kind and good stories.

Author Interview:

  • When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Writing and making up stories has always been a big part of my life. I’m better at expressing myself through writing, and the idea of creating a world that doesn’t exist anywhere but inside my head has always fascinated me. However, for most of my life, writing was related to my personal journals and storytelling was about making my family laugh with stories about seven-headed dragons and princesses.
The first time I actually envisioned myself as a writer was when I had the idea for Exception. Taylor, Emily, and their story became such a huge part of me that I felt like they deserved to be given a voice and a life outside my mind. After ten pages, something clicked inside my head and I knew that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
  • Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
Yes, I do. Writing only happens if I have a mug of tea in hand and some music from my ever-growing playlist filling the house. Also, I have a thing about my chair. I write sitting at my dining table, and though all of my chairs are the same, there’s this one that is “my” chair. For some reason, I find it more comfortable than the others, and whenever my husband changes its location, I always have to go around sitting in all of them until I find “my” chair.
  • Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?
I get inspired by a lot of things. Music is definitely a big inspirational factor for me, but I also get a lot of inspiration from my life, from the people in it, and from things that happen around me. Though in my mind my characters are their own people, I love to add traits of my friends and family to them. To me, it’s a way of showing that, though I may be MIA while I’m locked in the cave writing, I’m thinking of them. As for the ideas for the story, they usually come from someplace in my life or something I feel strongly about. And as for the romance, I’m lucky to be married to a really romantic man, so a lot of that comes from him.
  • What books have most influenced your life?
The first book that influenced me was Harry Potter. When I read it for the first time, I was a teen who didn’t really like to read, and that book changed me. It was the first time I was completely taken out of reality and inserted into a new world through the pages of a book, and from that moment on, I was hooked.
As an adult and a writer, I consider two books to be my biggest influences: The Notebook, because it was the book that made me realize I loved romance novels; and Love Unscripted, because it was the book that made me realize I loved indie novels.
  • What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Time away from writing is usually spent on the couch, watching movies with Alex (AKA the Hubby) and our pets (AKA the kids) or trying to make a dent on my ever-growing TBR list.
  • Any future writing news you would like to share?

Yes! I’m currently writing a standalone novel entitled Madeleine. It’s another contemporary romance which I’m hoping to release early 2014. Also, I’m in the planning stages for an Exception follow-up novel, also to be released in 2014.

Book Description

Life is a soap opera, especially for Elle Miller, who writes for one. (Ellen dropped the “n” in her name in hopes of finding a better ending for herself.) When her laptop crashes, she borrows her recently deceased dad’s computer and gets way more than she bargained for.
Elle unravels mysterious communications from his computer, while her mom decides to give Internet dating a try. As Elle tries to save her career at I’d Rather Be Loved with a storyline featuring a trip through Atlantis, she takes a trip to the Emmys, and finds herself in the middle of a romance between a real doctor and a hunk who just plays one on TV. Friends, family, and clues from “the other side” all help Elle figure out the difference between living the good life and living a good life.
Fans of Marian Keyes and Jennifer Weiner will delight in Dee DeTarsio’s sparkling prose and lively dialogue as she takes readers into the heart of women’s lives. Filled with friendship, love, loss, betrayal, and challenges that force her characters to find their place in the universe, Dee’s novels give us that hopefully-ever-after we're searching for.
Praise for The Kitchen Shrink:“Dee DeTarsio is easily the next Sophie Kinsella. Her writing is fast-paced, hilarious, and engaging. I loved The Scent of Jade and am hopelessly heels-over-head for The Kitchen Shrink.” —Chick Lit & Wine

Quotes from Night Moves:

He leaned in, his lips brushing my ear. “Baby,” he said in a rough whisper, "I want to fuck you in the worst way possible.  What I don't want is to be some revenge fuck of yours in order to get back at your cheating boyfriend who you'll most likely get back with before you land in D.C. I'm not that guy, babe. When I fuck you there will be no doubt in your mind as to who you're with and why you're with me, understand?”

“I’ve a tendency to try and lead when slow-dancing,” I warned him. His lips twitched, and amusement glimmered darkly in his eyes.
“You have no worries there; I don’t intend to allow that,” he responded softly. “You’ll learn to follow, I promise.”

“This was a man who could shatter me at will. I mean, look what he'd done with my resolve to be professional. Where'd that go? He'd splintered it the moment he started telling me those things at the restaurant. I could already feel the slow fractures begin to confetti my thoughts.”

“Is that what you really think? Do you truly believe that you've been fucking a dangerous sociopath?"
"No," I stated firmly. "I think I've been fucking someone who doesn't know who or what he is, much less what he wants. I think he's someone that has some baggage he hasn't dealt with which is a shame, because he's almost perfect otherwise”

“He pushed a little voice into his whisper, giving it an almost mellifluous, lyrical sound, “I’m going to fuck you like I would Bianca. I’m going to speak to you like you are Bianca. And I’m going to use you like I would Bianca.”
I felt his lips on the spot right below my ear. “Are you frightened?”

“Still want to scream, love?” He asked as I felt that finger lazily masturbate me.
“Yes,” I let out ragged breath, shooting him a hard glare.
“But you’re so wet, Darcy.” He told me, his eyes on where his hand was, watching my hips subtly lift and fall to his momentum. Easton looked up at me, giving a pirate’s grin, “Or am I to call you Bianca this evening?”

“I raised my chin, defiantly. “Do it.” I challenged him.
He looked back at me, in wonder... an easy smile resting on his lips. Something flashed in his eyes as he continued studying me, and before he was aware of it, I saw a vague and saddened disappointment reflect through his eyelashes.”

“Did you fuck me because I looked like her?" I asked quietly.
"Yes," he whispered, not taking his eyes from mine.
"Are you holding me now because I look like her?" I felt the adrenaline catch fire in my veins, afraid of his answer but needing to know the truth.

“You're being an ass," I snapped, hoping to get his ire up, along with anything else on him that cared to rise to the occasion.
"I am an ass," he spat, "You should've figured that out a long time ago. I don't want to be an ass - not with you at any rate. You didn't deserve the things I did to you last night.”

Badass Book Babe Review (Ami):

This book was captivating. I loved the story of Darcy and Easton. I loved that Darcy wasn't afraid of saying what is on her mind....and I completely loved Easton (swoon). There story isn't your typical boy meets girl, they fall instantly in love and ride off into the sunset together. Darcy and Easton meet by chance in Belize, where Darcy flees to escape her cheating fiance'. Easton is a broken, tortured soul - who to a certain degree reminds me of another book boyfriend of mine.....Gideon Cross. Easton suffers pain and guilt due to the mind-tricks his mother has played on him his whole life. Darcy is a spoiled brat. She is used to getting whatever she wants. Things change when her father decides to sell his company (I won't give away who he sells it too....wink-wink) and Darcy must prove work, and in the bedroom.

Darcy and Easton have a strong connection....and it is wonderful to see their story play out. I really enjoyed this story, there were great secondary characters which really added to the story. This book was actually the 3rd in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I have not read the first two books, and was able to fully enjoy this book. There were a few references to other characters that I was confused about, however I am assuming that is because it was discussed in the previous two books which I had not read.

If you are in the mood for a sizzling read, full of hot sex and amazing chemistry, then grab this book.  You won't regret it. :)
